INTRODUCTION TO PART 6 -- NATIONAL MINISTRIES
A study of the spiritual needs of North America will include a consideration of the nations of Canada and Mexico. There is great interaction between both countries and the US because of extensive common borders--[Canada has a common border with the US of over 4300 miles which is twice that of the border with Mexico] which promotes extensive border crossing and trade.
Yet each country has its own unique mix of peoples, religious affiliations and spiritual needs. For instance, Canada which is 32% Protestant, sends 5400 missionaries around the world through 118 agencies, many of which are US based missions maintaining a Canadian Board as a separate entity. At the same time, Canada receives some 400 missionaries. Mexico on the other hand, only 5% Protestant, sends out nearly 376 missionaries [mostly denominational, but not Catholic] and receives nearly 2,000 missionaries through 173 agencies.
